Over the Xmas period, I’ve taken the time to reorganize and get myself in gear for 2008.

One key area for me was personal productivity.

With so many ways now, where our attention is diverted from what you are meant to be doing, I looked at what simple things could I do to improve my focus.  And there is one that I found that has made the world of difference.

My normal routine in the morning, was to get out of bed, then walk to my laptop and read email, scan the news and RSS feeds.  In all, this probably took about 2 hours when you count it correctly.

Now, my routine is to get out of bed, grab my collated To Do list and sit down and write on a 3×5 card, what 3 things MUST I do today.  Then I shower have breakfast then do everything on my card BEFORE I read email, scan news, etc.

The result is that I’m mostly finished my HIGH priority activities BEFORE 0900.  In other words, without distractions and interruptions, I’m enormously productive.

How can you use the same idea?

Until next time,

Murray
